As a Professor in the Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, I instruct PharmD, MS, and PhD students in biochemical and molecular pharmacology and toxicology and conduct NIH-funded research on the interplay between transporter proteins and environmental chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
I’m passionate about the training of students and clinicians in translational research as evidenced by re-design of the PharmD and Toxicology MS/PhD curriculum, leadership in the PharmD/PhD Program, and expansion of our Summer Intern Program. Our research team of basic and clinical scientists uses state-of-the-art technologies to translate findings in cell culture and rodent models to patients. Areas of active research include prediction of drug-induced liver injury, susceptibility factors for cancer drug-induced kidney toxicity, and the maternal-fetal transfer of medications and environmental chemicals.
