I’ve been a faculty member of the Department of Linguistics and the Center for Cognitive Science since 1998. My primary research interests are computational language learnability, phonology, and Optimality Theory.

I am currently the chair of Linguistics, my second such term. I will be chair until July 2024.

When not on campus, I am most likely to be found at home with my wife and two children. I also play the drums.
