You may be required to change their NetID password for a variety of reasons, including:

  • A period of 12 months has elapsed since your password was last changed
  • A confirmed or suspected breach of your account’s security has been detected
  • You have forgotten your NetID password

To change your NetID password, use the Manage NetID Password Tool.

If you have forgotten your NetID password, use the Forgotten Password Tool.

After Updating your NetID Password

Your updated NetID password should be used to authenticate to all Rutgers and RSDM systems that utilize the NetID system for authentication. This includes non-clinical workstations, axiUm, Rutgers Connect, and Canvas, among others.

Logging into Windows Laptops

If you are unable to log in to your Windows laptop using your new NetID password, but can successfully log in using your old password, follow these steps to update your locally cached credentials. Once completed, you will be able to log in to Windows using your updated NetID password.
