Instructions for applicants to positions with Professor Stanley H. Weiss’s research group

To apply for one of the open positions with Dr. Weiss’s research group, you have to both apply at the Rutgers Human Resources (HR) web site and send Drs. Weiss and Rosenblum the standard set of materials they require.

Apply online for the position on the Rutgers HR web site through the appropriate link:

Send the materials required by Drs. Weiss and Rosenblum as described here:

There is a standard set of materials that anyone who wishes to work with Dr. Weiss should send, whether as an employee, a student, or a volunteer. These help Drs. Weiss and Rosenblum assess what role(s) persons may be able to fulfill, as well as finding best fits for potential collaborators’ interests. Therefore, please send the following in a single email message addressed to both Drs. Weiss and Rosenblum at your earliest convenience:

  • your current resume or c.v.;
  • transcripts of all of your undergraduate and graduate coursework to date (photocopies or scanned copies are fine — we do not need official raised seals or the like);
  • one or two samples of writing that you have done completely on your own (students often send recent course papers or lab reports);
  • additional specific descriptions of any community-based or community-related health work (or other work) you have done (besides what’s in your resume or c.v.);
  • specific information about any computer software, including statistical packages, &/or statistical training in which you have expertise;
  • additional information (besides what’s already in your resume or c.v.) on any foreign languages you know and your level of proficiency in them (in case knowledge of other languages would help on any projects);
  • [if you are seeking a research position in furtherance of doctoral studies] whether or not you have a faculty advisor and project for your doctoral research;
  • what your schedule will be over the period you wish to work with us (how many hours per week, dates you will be available including specifics of vacation dates or other interruptions, days of the week and hours you can work, etc.), as this will affect how you might fit in with our projects;
  • [if you are a Rutgers student] whether you are eligible for federal work study funding and, if you have been awarded such funding, whether it is community or regular work study and how much funding you have been awarded (if you know);
  • whether you have a current driver’s license;
  • whether you will have access to a car during the period you wish to work with us, and what the limitations are on such access;
  • whether you will be living on or near our campus and, if not, how you will be getting here;
  • [Optionally] your preferred pronouns (she/her/hers, he/him/his, other), so we’ll know whether to address you as Ms. or Mr.;
  • any additional information (besides what you already mentioned to us) on roles, such as an intern, volunteer, receiving course credit, other paid position, etc., you are interested in working in. (We have persons, including students, working with us in various roles, and we like to know what roles each person is willing to work in.)

Please email these materials in a single email message addressed to both Dr. Weiss and Dr. Rosenblum,
with the appropriate subject line according to the position you’re applying to, as follows:

  1. For the post-doctoral fellowship, “INQUIRY – post-doctoral fellowship“;
  2. For the Research & Teaching Specialist V, “INQUIRY – RTS-V“;
  3. For the temporary part-time research assistant, if you’re a Rutgers student, “INQUIRY – research assistant (Rutgers student)“;
  4. For the temporary part-time research assistant, if you’re NOT a Rutger student, “INQUIRY – research assistant (NON-Rutgers student)“;
  5. For the Public Health Representative II, “INQUIRY – Public Health Rep II“.

Include your email address and cell phone number in your cover note, and let us know how you heard about the position you’re inquiring about.

We look forward to hearing from you.
