By Eliza Rosenthale

2020 Winter Showcase Poetry Award Winner

Green is my hand twitching over the paper. It is the high after a good cry. A deep breath. Green is making yourself breakfast. It is running into an old friend. It is a new pair of shoes. A first date in June. It is calling your mother on the walk home to tell her about it. Green is children observing but not following. It is no sense of direction, but it is the capacity to continue climbing.

Green is all of us, undressed.
