Committees
AHGSO currently has four committees. These committees run various AHGSO events and activities.
Current committee members are listed here.
Please see below for committee descriptions.
-
The DSS committee organizes the distinguished speaker series, inviting scholars to come to Rutgers for a talk and reception. The DSS Committee should consist of four members to plan roughly two to three events throughout the academic year. It is important to maintain contact and request co-sponsorships from other applicable departments.
-
The Symposium Committee organizes the Annual Graduate Student Symposium, including deciding on a theme/concept, writing a CFP, soliciting submissions, the selection of papers, and planning/advertising the event. The symposium committee should consist of 8 members, along with interested first-year parties who start in the fall semester.
-
This committee is the primary contact for ideas and concerns related to professional development and career progress, and will plan workshops and events throughout the academic year to address students’ professional needs.
-
The Welcome and Social Committee is the primary student contact for incoming students, and helps to plan orientation events at the start of the Fall semester and social events throughout the year.
