Jessica Mingoia

Jessica Mingoia (she/her) earned her BA in History with a concentration in the Ancient World from SUNY New Paltz and her MA from NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts with a focus in Roman Art, Architecture, and Archaeology. Her MA thesis titled “The Business of Hospitality and the Praedia of Julia Felix at Pompeii” served to contradict negative, ancient literary stereotypes of the Roman hospitality industry through examination of the often-misunderstood Pompeiian complex, the Praedia of Julia Felix. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Rutgers University is researching the taverns, inns, and rental apartments of ancient Pompeii and Herculaneum for her dissertation, titled “In Pergula Natus: Inns and Apartments of Pompeii and Herculaneum”. She is also one of the co-editors of the Rutgers Art Review Volumes 37 & 38 and the Advisory Editor of Volume 39. She has taught classes at both Rutgers and the College of Staten Island.
