Noh Play “Taiten” at the Japan Society

November 14, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - November 16, 2019 @ 12:00 am

There will be a noh performance at Japan Society this week from November 14-16. The show, Taiten, is a rarely performed noh play that celebrates the enthronement of the Taisho Emperor in 1912. This revival commissioned by Yokohama Noh Theater celebrates the Reiwa era with the recent ascension of Emperor Naruhito this past May. As per tradition, the noh play is paired with a comedic kyogen piece from the classic repertoire entitled Kagyu (The Snail).

Students are offered a discount code that will allow them to purchase tickets online or over the phone at our Japan Society member price. The discount code is NOH80 for $80 tickets ($17 off the price of general admission). With our current ticketing system, it may be hard to discern where to plug in the discount code.

A limited number of tickets will be released on TDF.org today as well, so be on the lookout there if you  are a TDF member.
