\"\"<\/a>The Quarterly Journal of Studies on Alcohol<\/em> or\u00a0 (Q. J. Stud. Alcohol), ISSN: 0033-5649\u00a0(currently called the\u00a0Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs<\/em><\/a>), was founded\u00a0in 1940\u00a0by\u00a0Howard W. Haggard<\/a>, M.D., director of Yale University\u2019s Laboratory of Applied\u00a0Physiology.<\/p>\n

Dr. Haggard was a physiologist studying the effects of alcohol on the body, and he started the Journal as a way to publish the increasing amount of research on alcohol use, abuse, and treatment that emerged from Yale and other institutions in the years following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.<\/p>\n

In addition to original research, the Journal also published abstracts summarizing other published documents dealing with alcohol.\u00a0More on the JSAD homepage<\/a>…<\/p>\n

Supplements\u00a0<\/a>to the journal were published starting from 1961. Most of them are available online with subscription.<\/p>\n
