In 2013, a mini exhibit called the Jellinek Corner <\/em>was set up at the entrance of the CAS Library to commemorate the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the death of E.M. Jellinek (1890-1963). Instrumental in laying the foundations of the CAS Library, Jellinek is also considered as one of the fathers of alcohol studies as a discipline.<\/p>\n

\"display\"<\/a>The exhibit features an autographed copy of the original Jellinek-doodle, a Jellinek-bust awarded to Mark Keller by the Jellinek Memorial Foundation, a cartoon portrait of Jellinek, Jellinek\u2019s bookplate, and several other unique and rare Jellinek memorabilia and publications. To set the tone, Mark Keller\u2019s typewriter is situated in front of the display with a replica McBee card from the CAAAL punch cards.<\/p>\n

By applying principles and best practices of modern information science, the CAS Library has been sharing its wealth of information from the collection of documents, images, artifacts, and items gathered by former and current CAS researchers and staff, continuing the efforts of previous librarians and staff members to collect, preserve, and disseminate our resources.<\/p>\n

The CAS Library put out a call in the SALIS News inspiring substance abuse librarians all over the world to contribute to our efforts to collect items related to the early years of alcohol studies and received a positive response by colleagues pointing out resources or even donating items found in hidden in drawers.<\/p>\n
