A resounding theme that emerged in the Being First Collaborative\u2019s conversations with first-generation students was a deep desire to be seen and recognized for their enthusiasm and dedication to their studies, for their accomplishments and potential to succeed, and for their individuality, rather than solely defined as a group. The following <\/span>This, Not That<\/span><\/i> section created by students of Being First Collaborative provides some guidance for instructors as they think about ways to support first-generation students in their courses.<\/span>
