Summer Tales Book Club<\/a> is back! Join our fun summer reading program hosted by New Brunswick Libraries and Summer Session. The program will start on June 1, 2021, but students enrolled in the Summer Session at Rutgers can join us any time during the summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Wondering how it works? Curious about the readings? Have doubts why you should read over the summer? Please check out some of the frequently asked questions<\/a> and our public guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here is some background on the program. Invited by the Rutgers Summer Session, we launched the Summer Tales Reading Club<\/a> in the summer of 2020 in Canvas to respond to new needs in the learning environment evolving during the pandemic. The program turned out to be successful and created virtual communities for students taking classes remotely during the entire summer.<\/p>\n

Events last summer included a session reading How to talk to girls at parties<\/a><\/em> by Neil Gaiman, reading a classic<\/a> with thought-provoking discussions, and a live meeting with renowned author Joyce Carol Oates<\/a>. Participants can attest that they benefited from experience<\/a> in many ways.<\/p>\n

The non-credit course in 2021 will be delivered in Canvas again. It continues to promise short mental breaks from coursework through a fool-proof method of distraction: reading short stories and discussing related issues with fellow students. The reading schedule is as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
