\n\"\"<\/a>Good news for all of us scrambling before another semester that starts with remote learning as the only option:\u00a0<\/span>the <\/span>HathiTrust<\/span> Emergency Temporary Access Service (<\/span>ETAS<\/span>) program was reinstated last week.<\/span><\/div>\n

What does it mean for you?<\/b><\/h4>\n
In sum, it will make your life easier. If you are not on campus,\u00a0many print books held by the libraries are temporarily available electronically to current Rutgers students, faculty, and staff on the HathiTrust platform.<\/span><\/div>\n

How can you find these books?<\/b><\/h4>\n
There are two ways to find and access the ETAS books: browsing the HathiTrust platform and discovering them in QuickSearch.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

1. HathiTrust Platform<\/b><\/div>\n
After linking to HathiTrust<\/a>, log in with your NetID and password to access these books, which have links labelled Temporary Access. Click “Temporary Access” and then click the “CHECK OUT” button to read the book.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
2. QuickSearch<\/b><\/div>\n
In addition, we have re-added links in QuickSearch<\/a> to all the ETAS<\/span> monographs and multi-part monographs (over 700,000 books total). These are the exact same links that were in QuickSearch last time we used ETAS. Each link displays on the print record for the book (For example, see https:\/\/bit.ly\/3f46jhY<\/a>). Each link is labelled “HathiTrust<\/span> Temporary Emergency Access Service.”
\nWhen you click the link, you will be prompted to log in with your NetID and password. Then you will be taken to the book’s record in HathiTrust<\/span>, where you will see a link saying “Temporary Access.” Click “Temporary Access” and then click the “CHECK OUT” button to read the book.<\/div>\n
