Breslin Laboratory

Welcome!

The Breslin Lab for Sensory Nutrition is a basic and translational science lab focused on the role of sensation and perception of foods, beverages, and flavors on food choice, intake, digestion, and metabolism. We are interested in discovery and applications of findings for public health. We also focus on training students in the scientific process.  Trainees receive masters and doctorate degrees through this laboratory, and undergraduate students receive experiential learning by conducting research projects and Honor’s Theses in the lab.

Current projects include investigation of: the oral reward of macronutrients and their impact on liking, preference, and intake; the role of obesity on oral fat preference and endocannabinoid signaling; the role of amino acids on treating diarrhea in children; bitter taste inhibition in children; and projects to reduce sugar intake in the population.

We conduct research on humans of all ages, mice, rats, and Drosophila. We invite Rutgers students and community members to participate in our research projects as paid, consented volunteers (848-932-6085).
