Emily Hanselman

Graduate Student

Emily Hanselman completed her bachelors of science in molecular biology at Grove City College. She received her masters of science in human nutrition at Columbia University and obtained her RDN through Montclair State University. Emily worked for 5 years as a registered dietitian nutritionist in both inpatient and outpatient settings and became a board certified specialist in pediatric nutrition. She returned to graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in nutritional sciences at Rutgers University, and she is working in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Breslin where she is studying sweet taste pathways, glucose metabolism and neural signaling underlying eating behavior and reward. Emily enjoys mentoring undergraduates, especially supporting DEI in research as a mentor through the RISE program at Rutgers. She serves on the School of Graduate Studies DEI advisory committee and is the co-president of Supporting Parents and Caregivers at Rutgers, a graduate student organization that provides community and advocacy for student parents.
