{"id":770,"date":"2014-01-31T15:57:45","date_gmt":"2014-01-31T15:57:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/centerfordermalresearch\/?p=770"},"modified":"2019-10-15T16:47:48","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T16:47:48","slug":"michniak-kohn-academic-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/centerfordermalresearch\/michniak-kohn-academic-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Michniak-Kohn appointed academic chair of the Transdermal Working Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Catalent Applied Drug Delivery Institute will be launching the Non-Invasive Macromolecule Drug Delivery Consortium on June 23rd 2014 in San Diego, CA.\u00a0 This will consist of working groups chaired by leading experts in oral, inhalation, nasal, transdermal and ocular drug delivery. Prof. Bo Michniak-Kohn will be the academic chair of the Transdermal Working Group and her research group will also be part of creating the \u201cNon-invasive Macromolecule Drug Delivery Guide\u201d to be published later in 2014. The aim is to foster collaborations and the use of innovative drug delivery to deliver proteins and peptides without the hassle or pain of injections. This will be the platform for match-making of experts\/companies for solutions for these challenging compounds. In addition, the Institute is also sponsoring the 3rd Annual Global Academic Competition for Life Science Leaders of Tomorrow for pharmacy graduate students jointly with the American Association for Pharmaceutical Scientists AAPS. The competition is open to 91 AAPS Student Chapters, with over 2500 students in 35 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Catalent\u2019s Applied Drug Delivery Institute was founded to serve as a link between industry and academia, advance education and training in drug delivery in academia and the industry, accelerate adoption of applied drug delivery technologies to develop better treatments and foster industry collaboration on major issues pertaining to drug development, formulation and delivery. It is pursuing a multi-tiered approach of seed funding, strategic counsel, and educational programs to advance the adoption of emerging technologies.
