Rose Soskind, a student of the School of Pharmacy, has received the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Gateway to Research Scholarship. Soskind is PharmD.\/ Ph.D. student advised by Professor Bozena Michniak-Kohn (Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy). She is interested in targeted drug delivery and photomedicine.<\/p>\n
According to the AFPE,\u00a0 \u201cfor more than 70 years, AFPE has provided fellowships, scholarships, and grants to help educate thousands of the very best and brightest students in the pharmaceutical sciences in preparation for distinguished careers in industry and academia\u201d.<\/p>\n
Soskind has also achieved recognition for her work, \u201cAmphiphilic Macromolecules Activated by External Stimuli for Targeted Drug Delivery for Astronauts\u201d by the NASA NJ Space Grant Consortium. She will be pursuing an advanced degree in the pharmaceutical sciences through a joint PharmD\/PhD program at the Ernest Mario school of Pharmacy, Rutgers University. The program is established to meet the needs and interests of exceptionally bright and highly motivated students.<\/p>\n
Through the support of the AFPE as well as a state-of the art- curricula and dual degree program at Rutgers, the best students are encouraged to pursue careers in the pharmaceutical sciences. The transfer of knowledge, skills and techniques in the pharmaceutical sciences are necessary to keep pace with today\u2019s rapid advances in drug discovery and development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
