People are living longer than ever before and our skin must therefore be able to protect us for longer. In response to the emerging need for global efforts to address skin health, the SHIELD initiative was launched in 2014. The global network is the first of its kind, comprehensive and science based in research and innovation. It is comprised of innovation hubs around the world where healthcare professionals from the fields of dermatology, general medicine, aging, nursing and technology will interact and work together to promote a life course of healthy skin through medical investigation, education and application of converging technologies and bio-informatics.<\/p>\n
