In recent years, there has been a synergistic effort to understand and mitigate sources of decoherence and noise, such as quasiparticles and two-level fluctuators, as well as the design of circuits that are less susceptible to environmental noise. This collaborative effort has resulted in a five-order-of-magnitude improvement in superconducting circuit coherence times over the past two decades. Despite these rapid advances, fault tolerant quantum computation remains a major challenge, and may require new circuit designs, fabrication techniques, and a deeper understanding of the sources of noise and techniques for their mitigation.<\/p>\n<p>This interdisciplinary workshop will bring together experts in the field to explore the latest research at the intersection of mesoscopic physics and superconducting quantum circuits. Topics of discussion will include:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div data-ogsb=\"white\">\n<ul>\n<li>Superconducting quantum computing<\/li>\n<li>Superconductivity in mesoscopic and granular systems<\/li>\n<li>Decoherence in superconducting qubits<\/li>\n<li>Noise-protected circuits<\/li>\n<li>Mesoscopic physics of disordered systems<\/li>\n<li>Quantum materials for quantum information science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>An additional theme of this event is to honor the retirement of Prof. Michael Gershenson and recognize his broad range of contributions to these subjects.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Interested students, postdocs, and professors are welcome to attend the event!\u00a0 Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from leading researchers and engage in discussions about the current state and future directions of this exciting field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"><strong>Students who are interested in presenting posters should email titles and abstracts to<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:mishafest2023@gmail.com\">mishafest2023@gmail.com<\/a> <strong>by Friday, 03\/17\/2023.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The conference dinner will be held on Friday night at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saharacafenj.com\/parties.html\">Sahara\u00a0restaurant<\/a> in New Brunswick.
