{"id":709,"date":"2023-10-21T19:29:02","date_gmt":"2023-10-21T19:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/?page_id=709"},"modified":"2023-10-21T20:31:32","modified_gmt":"2023-10-21T20:31:32","slug":"brain-fog-in-long-covid","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/brain-fog-in-long-covid\/","title":{"rendered":"Brain fog in long COVID"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-710 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/603\/2023\/10\/COVID8-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/603\/2023\/10\/COVID8-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/603\/2023\/10\/COVID8-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/603\/2023\/10\/COVID8-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/cndr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/603\/2023\/10\/COVID8.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are located in an area where many New Jerseyans and New Yorkers caught the first wave of COVID-19 in March 2020, and many more have gotten sick from the delta, omicron, and other COVID-19 variants since.\u00a0 It is estimated that up to 20% of people who recover from MILD COVID-19 develop symptoms consistent with long COVID (referred officially as post-acute sequelae of acute SARS-CoV-2 infection).\u00a0 We have received a two-year grant from TMCIty Foundation to study brain fog in long COVID.\u00a0 So far, we have had very important findings to suggest that, in people with brain fog, the brain responds as if there is on-going infection.\u00a0 We are still looking for more volunteers to participate in our study.\u00a0 You will be asked to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Answer some short surveys<\/li>\n<li>Complete short pencil-and-paper tests on your memory and thinking<\/li>\n<li>Have a brain MRI<\/li>\n<li>Undergo a very safe procedure (very similar to epidural anesthesia) to collect some spinal fluid<\/li>\n<li>Donate some blood and DNA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will receive remuneration for this study.\u00a0 Please contact us at <a href=\"mailto:Memory411@rutgers.edu\">Memory411@rutgers.edu<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are located in an area where many New Jerseyans and New Yorkers caught the first wave of COVID-19 in March 2020, and many more have gotten sick from the &hellip;
