Cognitive Kids builds meaningful connections between science and the community.

We collaborate with local organizations and regularly host pop-up events in places like farmers markets, libraries, and schools to share our research, engage families in hands-on learning, and have children participate in our studies. These partnerships help us bring child development science into everyday spaces where children and caregivers live, learn, and play.

Rutgers Center for Cognitive Sciences

The Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science (RuCCS) is a hub for research on how the mind works—bringing together experts in psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, computer science, and philosophy. RuCCS supports innovative, interdisciplinary studies on how we think, learn, and communicate, and it helps train the next generation of scientists through hands-on research and community engagement. RuCCS also serves as the central academic home for the research labs involved in Cognitive Kids, supporting our mission to connect science with families and communities.

Liberty Science Center

We partner with the Liberty Science Center to connect child development research with New Jersey families. Our team regularly visits the museum to collect data with families and engage visitors in conversations about how children learn. These events offer a hands-on opportunity for museum-goers to contribute to science and discover more about the fascinating ways kids think, grow, and understand the world.

If you’d like to see us at the LSC in action, check out our calendar for when we’ll be there!

Rutgers Day

Each year, Cognitive Kids takes part in Rutgers Day to share our research with the broader community.
We set up interactive activities that give families a chance to explore how children learn and sign up to participate in real studies. It’s a fun and engaging way for visitors to connect with science, meet researchers, and discover how everyday experiences shape children’s thinking and development.

If you’d like to visit us at Rutgers Day, keep an eye on our calendar for the date! It typically takes place in April on Rutgers University, New Brunswick’s campus.
