New Brunswick, NJ – Rutgers Cricket Club President Fauzan Amjad released the following letter to the student body regarding the launch of the Rutgers Cricket Club:

Dear cricket loving community of Rutgers:

We are excited to announce the launch of the Rutgers Cricket Club on campus! As you may know, the cricket club disbanded prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but after a year of hard work and paperwork with the Rutgers recreational department, we are proud to say that the club is back and better than ever.

Attached to this letter, you will find all the required forms to become a member of the cricket club. We believe that diversity and inclusivity are essential components of a successful and thriving community. Therefore, we want to emphasize that the cricket club is open to everyone, regardless of your skill level, background, or experience with the sport. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics of the game, an intermediate player seeking to improve your skills, or an expert cricketer with years of experience, we welcome you to join us in this exciting and rewarding activity.

In the coming weeks, we will be launching eboard applications, but if you’re interested in running the club’s operations, please reach out to me via email. We are looking for dedicated and passionate individuals who are committed to making the cricket club a success.

Our goal is to create a diverse and inclusive community of cricket enthusiasts on campus, united by our passion for this amazing sport. We plan to host battles between different classes, cricket watch parties, and workshops with professional cricketers. If you’re interested in playing for the team that we’ll be sending to nationals, please contact Mudassir Lodi via GroupMe. We are confident that with your support, we can build a strong and competitive cricket team that will make Rutgers proud.

Instructions to Register for Rutgers Cricket Club

  1. Register on Do Easy Sports Rutgers
    1. Go to https://rutgers.dserec.com/online/clubsports_widget
    2. Scroll to find Cricket.
    3. Click Registration.
      1. The site will prompt you to login using your NetID.
    4. Once logged in, Complete the registration information below:
      1. Personal Information
        1. Personal Details
        2. Campus Address
        3. Home Address
        4. Emergency Contact
      2. Additional Information
        1. Position within Club
        2. Years within Club
        3. If you will Serve as a Safety Officer
          1. If yes, will be prompted to upload CPR & First Aid Certificates
      3. Medical Information
        1. Do you have any known allergies?
        2. Do you take any medications?
        3. Do you have any special health needs?
      4. Driver Information
        1. If yes, you will be prompted to complete Recognition of Driver Waiver and submit Additional Documents
          1. Driver’s License
          2. Copy of Auto Insurance (Only required if driving personal vehicle)
          3. Copy of vehicle registration (Only required if driving personal vehicle)
          4. Copy of Defensive Driving Certification (Only Required if driving University or rental vehicles)

    6. A Blue Bar in the upper right-hand corner should read “Pending Approval” when you have successfully submitted your registration.
    7. All registrations must be approved by the Sport Club Office prior to a member participating in a Club Sport practice or competition.
