Last year, we launched a new initiative focused on providing opportunities to empower women and girls, to address the issue of preventing sexual violence in our communities. Over the next three years, the Women and Girls ExCEL (Exemplifying Change, Empowerment, and Leadership) Program will engage six cohorts of women and girls across the northern, central, and southern regions of the state in a leadership development program that will strengthen individual participant capacity to communicate, advocate, and see themselves as a change agent. The cohorts will develop a “Call to Action Project” (CAP) to combat injustices, inequities, and prevent sexual violence within their schools and communities. With support/ guidance from the staff of the New Jersey Division on Women, CWW, and partner agencies, cohorts will develop a CAP that will be implemented in their own schools/communities.
