Join Our Cutting-Edge
Emergency Medicine Simulation Fellowship!
Our fellowship is designed to foster your growth as a leader in simulation-based education. You’ll engage in UME, GME and interprofessional education, ethical considerations, and cultural humility, preparing you to create inclusive and effective learning environments. With dedicated modules on research and continuous improvement, you’ll also have the chance to contribute to the field’s body of knowledge through scholarly projects and quality improvement initiatives. By the end of the program, you’ll be equipped to design, implement, and evaluate simulation programs that enhance patient care and safety.
Our Simulation Sites
Medical Education Building, 6th Floor (MEB 6) at RWJUH
MEB 6 is the current home of the RWJEM Residency simulation and clinical skills labs. This space includes an adult simulation room, a pediatric and OB/GYN simulation room, and 3 ORs/procedural rooms. We run weekly simulations for RWJMS UME programming and host simulation sessions for GME programs including IM, Gen Surg, Neurology, Family Medicine and Pediatrics.
The Center for Professional Development, Innovation and Research (CPDIR) Sim Lab at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBI)
The CPDIR Lab at NBIMC hosts many classes in emergency medicine, nursing and other healthcare disciplines on a daily basis. CPDIR offers as many as 20 classes a month and has recently pivoted to offer virtual video conferencing and hybrid opportunities for other RWJ Barnabas Health facilities in the system.
CMC Sim Labs
The CMC Sim Labs are great spaces for flipped classrooms, procedural sims, manikin-based sims (MBS), team based practice and IPE experiences.
The Helix will be the new home of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS).
In partnership with Devco, Helix I is part of a three building healthcare innovation hub, and boasts a state-of-the-science simulation deck and clinical skills space.
Scheduled to open in Summer 2026.

In Situ Simulation
Our sim faculty help design in situ simulations at all three clinical sites for interprofessional education (IPE) experiences, protocol development and latent safety threat testing. We have hosted complex scenarios, including full scale MCI drills, trauma resuscitations and ECMO activations.
