Our Clinical Sites
This state of the art ED has 82 treatment areas in a spacious 50,000 square foot area which operates around the clock, 365 days per year. We specialize in treating adults and children with major or minor illnesses or injuries, and mental health problems in the most efficient way possible.
Patient satisfaction is a high priority. The ED at Community Medical Center is consistently rated in the 99th percentile of high volume EDs by Press Ganey.
The Stroke Center has been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval and achieved Disease-Specific Care Certification for Acute Stroke from the Joint Commission. We are also an accredited Chest Pain Center.
All of our ED physicians are board certified in emergency medicine, and several are also certified in other specialties such as internal medicine and sports medicine.
Our nurses are all certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association. Many nurses also have certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and in Emergency Nursing. All nurses receive ongoing continuing education in acute coronary syndrome, stroke, and trauma.
Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
The Lester M. Bornstein Department of Emergency Medicine is staffed 24 hours a day by full-time emergency physicians and nurses treating approximately 80,000 patients annually. Fully equipped to handle all medical, surgical and psychiatric emergencies, the Department’s board-certified emergency physicians and specialized emergency nurses provide quality care to all ages from newborns to the elderly.
The Emergency Department also offers state-of-the-art pediatric emergency services with a separate waiting area and board-certified pediatric emergency specialists; an on-site Crisis Center to handle all psychiatric emergencies; a referral center for victims of rape and sexual assault; a FastTrak area for the treatment of minor emergencies; and a fully equipped, state-of-the-art resuscitation room to treat acute traumatic and cardiac emergencies. NBI is a Level II Trauma Center.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Emergency Department
Located in downtown New Brunswick, NJ, we care for more than 95,000 emergency department and trauma patients annually.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – New Brunswick, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, is New Jersey’s largest academic medical enter through its partnership with Rutgers University and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The 600+-bed adult hospital and 100+- bed Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital (BMSCH) are among the busiest in region, offering the highest levels of care in cardiovascular medicine, heart, kidney and pancreas transplantation, cancer care, neuroscience, orthopedics, bariatric surgery, women’s health and pediatrics.
As a Level I Trauma Center in New Jersey, an academic medical center, and a state and regional leader in emergency and trauma care, RWJUH regularly addresses some of the most serious illnesses and traumatic injuries in the state. Due to our Level I Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center verifications and the fact that our academic medical center offers many specialty services and destination therapies available at only a small number of elite institutions nationally, patient demand continues to grow for RWJUH’s services.
