Dr. Ivana Patricia Almeida, Ph.D.

 

 

Ivana Patrícia Almeida, Ph.D., is a psychologist, researcher, and specialist in memory, gender studies, and mental health. With a solid academic and institutional background, she holds a Master’s degree in Memory Studies and earned her Ph.D. with a focus on the intersections between mental health, gender-based violence, and public policies for women. She has served as a lecturer and technical analyst at the State Secretariat for Women’s Policies in Bahia, Brazil, where she developed strategies to combat violence against women and promote human rights.

Currently based in New York City, Dr. Almeida integrates her clinical practice with research on migratory processes, memory, identity, care, and the mental health of Latin American women in diaspora. She is affiliated with community empowerment initiatives, with a focus on the articulation between human rights promotion and care practices in intercultural contexts.

At Rutgers University, she collaborates on research projects dedicated to the critical production of knowledge on aging and mental health, contributing her transnational experience and intersectional perspectives.
