DESCRIPTION:Anil Nanda\, MD\, MPH\, delivered two invited lectures at the 9th MASSIN Congress in Mumbai\, India\, held from May 14 to 17\, 2026\, as part of an international academic program focused on neurosurgical education\, operative decision-making\, cerebrovascular surgery\, skull base surgery\, and complex cranial surgery. \nMASSIN\, the Madjid Samii Society of International Neurosurgery\, is an international neurosurgical society founded to advance the operative philosophy\, teaching legacy\, and management principles of Professor Madjid Samii. The 9th MASSIN Congress was held in conjunction with the International Conference of Cerebrovascular Surgery and International Neurosurgery Update and featured Robert F. Spetzler\, MD\, as Guest of Honor. \nOn May 15\, Dr. Nanda presented “Punditry and Poignancy through the Prism of Neurosurgery\,” a lecture reflecting on the intellectual\, professional\, and human dimensions of neurosurgical practice. \nOn May 17\, he delivered “Encountering the Face of Gorgon: Vascular Complications in Skull Base and Aneurysms\,” which focused on the prevention\, recognition\, and management of vascular complications in complex skull base and aneurysm surgery. \nDr. Nanda’s participation at MASSIN reflects Rutgers Global Neurosurgery’s broader commitment to international academic exchange\, neurosurgical education\, and collaboration with neurosurgical communities around the world. \n

DESCRIPTION:Anil Nanda\, MD\, MPH\, continued his academic visit to India with a series of university and institutional lectures in Chennai focused on neurosurgical education\, clinical judgment\, and the management of complex neurosurgical complications. \nOn May 19\, Dr. Nanda delivered the SRMC Oration in Chennai\, titled “Medicine and Neurosurgery Through the Prism of Apoorva Chintamani.” The lecture explored neurosurgery through historical\, philosophical\, and clinical perspectives\, connecting modern surgical practice with broader traditions of knowledge\, reflection\, and disciplined clinical judgment. \nAs part of the visit\, Dr. Nanda also visited Kauvery Hospital\, where he delivered a complications-focused lecture\, “The Unbearable Lightness of Complications\,” addressing the difficult but essential role of transparency\, humility\, and lifelong learning in surgical practice.
