SUMMARY:Dr. Anil Nanda Delivers Invited Lectures at the Asian Australasian Congress of Neurological Surgeons in Manila
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Anil Nanda was an invited speaker at the Asian Australasian Congress of Neurological Surgeons (AACNS)\, held in Manila\, Philippines\, where he delivered a series of lectures addressing neurosurgical mentorship\, complex skull base surgery\, academic scholarship\, and the meaning of a life dedicated to neurosurgery. Over 500 neurosurgeons across Asia were in attendance. \nDr. Nanda opened the congress on June 15 with the plenary lecture\, “Neurosurgical Mentorship\, Mastery and Memento Mori.” In this address\, he reflected on the role of mentorship in shaping the next generation of neurosurgeons\, the pursuit of technical and academic mastery\, and the importance of humility and purpose in surgical practice. He dedicated this talk to the 16.000 filipino nurses working in the USA. \nOn June 16\, Dr. Nanda presented “Petroclival Meningioma: When the Operable Becomes Inoperable\,” a focused discussion on one of the most challenging pathologies in skull base neurosurgery. Through the lens of a petroclival meningioma case\, he highlighted the nuanced decision-making required when surgical risk\, anatomy\, tumor behavior\, and patient-centered goals intersect. \nLater that day\, he delivered “The Neurosurgical Scholarly Silk Road\,” a lecture focused on research\, publication\, and academic collaboration in neurosurgery. Invited by Dr. Lynne Lourdes Lucena\, this session emphasized the importance of building scholarly networks\, advancing neurosurgical knowledge across regions\, and supporting young neurosurgeons in developing meaningful academic careers. \nOn June 18\, Dr. Nanda concluded his series of invited talks with “The Redemptive Strenuosities of a Neurosurgical Life\,” presented as part of the Young Neurosurgery session. The lecture explored the discipline\, sacrifice\, resilience\, and fulfillment that define a career in neurosurgery\, offering reflections intended to guide and inspire early-career neurosurgeons. \nDr. Nanda’s participation in AACNS underscores his longstanding commitment to global neurosurgical education\, mentorship\, academic collaboration\, and the advancement of complex neurosurgical care.
