SUMMARY:Rutgers Global Neurosurgery Participates in Jersey Shore Neuroscience Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Faculty from Rutgers Global Neurosurgery participated in At the Jersey Shore: Advances in Neuroscience and Neurosurgical Care\, a multidisciplinary educational symposium held on July 23\, 2026\, in Long Branch\, New Jersey. \nThe full-day program brought together physicians\, advanced practice providers\, nurses\, residents\, fellows\, and other healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Through expert-led presentations\, case-based discussions\, and multidisciplinary panels\, the symposium examined current challenges and emerging advances across the continuum of neuroscience care. \nTopics included acute stroke management\, neuroimaging\, cerebral revascularization\, neuromodulation\, middle meningeal artery embolization\, skull base surgery\, brain metastases\, epilepsy\, minimally invasive spine surgery\, vascular approaches to stroke prevention\, and palliative care in patients with serious neurological illness. The program also emphasized the importance of evidence-based clinical decision-making\, effective communication\, patient safety\, and coordination across specialties. \nAnil Nanda\, MD\, MPH\, Director of Global Neurosurgery at Rutgers\, served as a member of the symposium’s planning committee and contributed to the educational program through two presentations. He delivered the welcoming remarks at the opening of the symposium and later presented “Skull Base Surgery: The Good\, the Bad and the Ugly.” \nIn his skull base surgery presentation\, Dr. Nanda drew on his extensive clinical and academic experience to discuss the complexity of skull base pathology\, the evolution of operative techniques\, and the importance of thoughtful patient selection. His presentation highlighted both the possibilities and limitations of surgical intervention\, while underscoring the need to balance innovation with safety\, judgment\, and patient-centered care. \nThe symposium reflected Rutgers Global Neurosurgery’s broader commitment to education\, interdisciplinary collaboration\, mentorship\, and the responsible advancement of neurosurgical care. By participating in programs that connect specialists across institutions and disciplines\, Rutgers faculty continue to support the exchange of knowledge and the translation of scientific and surgical advances into meaningful improvements in patient care. \nThese educational efforts also reinforce the principles that guide Rutgers Global Neurosurgery: collaboration\, equity\, scientific inquiry\, and the belief that stronger systems of care are built through shared learning.
