Dr. Anil Nanda is an internationally recognized neurosurgeon, educator, and global health advocate. As the founding Director of Global Neurosurgery at Rutgers University, Dr. Nanda leads efforts to advance neurosurgical care and education in underserved regions around the world.
He brings over three decades of experience in academic neurosurgery, with expertise spanning skull base surgery, cerebrovascular neurosurgery, and neuro-oncology. Dr. Nanda has performed thousands of complex surgeries and trained numerous neurosurgeons globally. Before joining Rutgers, he served as Chairman of Neurosurgery at LSU Health Sciences Center, where he built one of the most comprehensive neurosurgery departments in the United States.
A strong proponent of global equity in surgical care, Dr. Nanda has worked extensively in South Asia, Latin America, and Africa, helping develop sustainable neurosurgical capacity and strengthening health systems. He is a frequent lecturer at international conferences and has published over 500 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
