Our team was working hard during the fall. Here are some highlights:
- Dr. Iyer spoke at an international virtual meeting of experts on climate, the environment and cancer, hosted by ISGlobal. Dr. Iyer led a committee of junior faculty at Rutgers, Yale, University of Illinois Chicago, ISGlobal, and the National Cancer Institute to organize an early career investigator meeting with support from the International Society of Environmental Epidemiology Capacity Building and Education Committee.
- Our new article titled “Neighborhood Disadvantage, African Genetic Ancestry, Cancer Subtype, and Mortality Among Breast Cancer Survivors” was published. This work was done in collaboration with faculty at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey using data from the Women’s Circle of Health Follow-up Study, an ongoing cohort of Black female breast cancer survivors. This study showed that neighborhood socioeconomic factors were more strongly correlated with survival than African genetic ancestry – read about it here.
