As of this month, <strong>95<\/strong> people have joined the study, and <strong>37<\/strong> have completed all parts. To date, <strong>93<\/strong> questionnaires, <strong>45<\/strong> blood samples, and <strong>41<\/strong> tap water samples have been completed. You can explore our data collection progress <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/hari-iyer\/repel\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"250\"><strong data-start=\"201\" data-end=\"250\">Now Live: Tap Water Collection Tutorial Video<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"252\" data-end=\"688\">Our team is thrilled to share a new instructional video created by study coordinator Chidinma Opara for the tap water collection process. This short, step-by-step video guides participants on how to safely collect their home water samples for PFAS testing. You can watch the video <a href=\"https:\/\/rutgersconnect-my.sharepoint.com\/:v:\/g\/personal\/cno26_cinj_rutgers_edu\/EX5XElp-hFBKjLvpYqyJPXYBUrryLqfT66HsvC52yNNpyw\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"182\"><strong data-start=\"152\" data-end=\"182\">Early REPEL Study Findings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"390\" data-end=\"732\">A total of 95 out of 154 eligible participants (62%) have enrolled in the study.\u00a0Participants who joined were more likely to be White and married compared to those who declined. Among 71 participants, 57% were diagnosed with a Grade Group 1 tumor, and\u00a020% with a Grade Group 2 tumor.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"1022\">When asked about drinking water habits, 44% said they drink bottled water and 37% use filtered tap water. We also found that dietary PFAS exposure was most often reported by drinking water in plastic bottles and eating meats wrapped in plastic.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1024\" data-end=\"1179\">We look forward to sharing these findings in more detail at the upcoming NIEHS Environmental Health Sciences Core Centers (EHSCCs) meeting this fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Research on the Epidemiology of Prostate Cancer and Environmental Levels (REPEL) study at Rutgers Cancer Institute is making steady progress!
