Food Fuels Minds<\/em> aims to address food insecurity by stimulating interest in SNAP, New Jersey’s Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. We interviewed college students who experience food insecurity and shared their stories with student artists, who created original works inspired by these narratives. By publishing these works in an original magazine, as well as displaying them on the school’s gallery spaces and windows, the project aims to engage the HCCC community in dialogue and awareness about food, hunger, health, and the availability of SNAP as a resource.<\/p>\n

Facilitated by faculty at Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and Mason Gross School of the Arts, in close collaboration with faculty, students, and administrators at Hudson County Community College. \/\/\u00a0This project was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. \/\/\u00a0For their support of the project, we thank Lisa Dougherty, Alison Wakefield, Michelle Vitale, David Clark, John Scanlon, Lisa Pitz, Darice Toon, and Student Advisory Board members Afnan Saleh, Covadonga Insuasti, Alyssa Carrillo, and Leandra Cancel. \/\/\u00a0Sincere thanks to all the student artists and art instructors who participated in this project.
