Hector Blanco

Assistant Professor

Hector Blanco is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Rutgers-New Brunswick. Hector is an applied microeconomist working at the intersection of public finance and urban economics, with a particular interest in housing policy. His current work studies how affordable housing programs, such as public housing and inclusionary zoning, shape neighborhoods and affect local housing markets. Before joining Rutgers, Hector was a postdoctoral research fellow at New York University’s Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy. Hector holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT. Before MIT, he obtained his M.Sc. in Economics from the Barcelona School of Economics and his B.A in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
