Joel Cantor

Distinguished Professor

Joel Cantor, ScD is a Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and the founding Director of the Center for State Health Policy, a unit of Rutgers Health (formerly Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). He is widely published on issues of health equity with a focus on health insurance coverage and health care delivery for high need populations. Dr. Cantor is currently leading a major study of long-term impacts of permanent supportive housing on healthcare utilization and spending among Medicaid beneficiaries experiencing homelessness. He also leads the New Jersey Population Health Cohort Study, one of the most comprehensive investigations ever conducted of the impact stress over the life course on health and wellbeing.
