  • In 1999 I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a B. S. in Horticulture. After working for a year in the horticulture industry, I attended Arizona State University where I earned a M. S. degree in Plant Biology. My thesis project looked at the effects of elevated CO2 on the flavonoid chemistry of a medicinal herb, Scutellaria baicalensis. In 2002, I started my doctoral thesis work at the University of Illinois where I investigated the anticancer components of blueberry fruit.
  • After completing my PhD, I joined Ilya Raskin’s lab in March 2005 as a postdoctoral associate. My research interests include extraction and purification of plant natural products to be studied for their potential as anticancer drugs.
