 <\/p>\n

Aparna is double majoring in Biology and Journalism\/Media Studies and minoring in Spanish.\u00a0 She is a Presidential Scholar and in the BA\/MD program at Rutgers Univ. Honors College.\u00a0 She graduated Valedictorian from High Technology High School in NJ.\u00a0 She is a Health Correspondent at The Daily Targum <\/a>(Rutgers school paper). She also serves as the President of the Rutgers Honors College Student Advisory Board and an Advisor on Howell Township Board of Education Strategic Planning Committee.\u00a0 She has volunteered with Rutgers Study Abroad in Cusco, Peru where she worked at a local hospital.<\/p>\n

Aparna started doing research in high school on Drosophila and longevity mechanisms.\u00a0 Her research won recognition at state and regional science fairs, earning her a spot at the NJ Governor’s School in the Sciences.\u00a0 She is passionate about science communication.<\/p>\n

Her current research is on understanding mTORC2 regulation during translation. Her work has implications for improving insulin sensitivity in diabetes and preventing tumorigenesis.<\/p>\n
