We’re so excited to be able to officially welcome Dorothy Ahn<\/a><\/span> to our department! To get to know her a bit more, we asked her to write a few paragraphs about herself…<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

“I\u2019m very excited to join the department this fall, with a virtual-to-real transition in the beginning! My research combines theoretical and experimental methods to investigate the underlying building blocks of meaning that result in the patterns we see within and across languages. I am currently interested in the semantics of definiteness, referential expressions, quantifiers, and number. I received my PhD in 2019 at Harvard with a dissertation titled \u2018That thesis\u2019, and was a college fellow at Harvard before joining Rutgers.<\/p>\n

I grew up in Princeton, NJ and have visited Rutgers many times as a high school student for All-State Band rehearsals where I played the horn. In addition to the horn, I also love playing the\u00a0haegeum<\/em>, which is a Korean string instrument. I consider myself a semi-lingual, and trust my Korean judgments a bit more. I like creating digital and physical artwork like fonts and jewelry. While I can only join virtually from Cambridge this fall, I am hoping to meet everyone in person soon!”<\/p>\n
