We would also like to bring your attention to three very special NELS@NELS events incorporated into the NELS program this year in order to help you Network, Educate, Learn, and Socialize:<\/p>\n
Friday evening NELS@NELS 7:30-8:30 pm ET<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
Faculty Q@A panel featuring a subset of NELS presenters\/faculty members, fielding questions coming directly from the NELS registration survey, moderated by a Rutgers faculty and grad student!<\/p>\n
Topics covered will include research, writing, a bird\u2019s eye view of the field, work-life balance, advice to students, the job market, and some fun personal reflection questions!<\/p>\n
Saturday lunch NELS@NELS 12:15-1:30 pm ET<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
General gathering that will then splinter off into 4 breakout sessions, facilitated by NELS presenters\/faculty members and Rutgers grad students. We will feature these four breakout rooms, divided by topics:<\/p>\n
1. Reviewing, writing, publishing, and grants<\/p>\n
2. Pedagogy of Syntax<\/p>\n
3. Applying and interviewing for jobs<\/p>\n
4. Starting out tenure track and work\/life balance<\/p>\n
Sunday morning NELS@NELS 8:00 -9:00 am ET<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
We\u2019ve built this time into the schedule so you can take advantage of it as you wish! Use this time to meet with your mentor\/mentee, come together and consult the NELS hive mind, meet fellow linguists over coffee\/tea, or find another creative way to spend the time. We might also provide some other options based on feedback from the previous days of the conference!<\/p>\n
