This year, Rutgers students and faculty had three presentations at the 56th Annual Meeting of the North East Linguistic Society (NELS 56<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduate students Ariela Ye<\/strong> and Jiayuan Chen<\/strong> gave a joint talk titled “On overt and covert definite marking in vocatives: selecting vs. non-selecting calls.”\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The faculty members who went to NELS56 gave poster presentations. Dr. Dorothy Ahn<\/strong> and Dr. Maria Kouneli’s<\/strong> poster was titled “The semantics of Kipsigis demonstrative spreading.”<\/em> Dr. Ryan Walter Smith<\/strong> and Dr. Mark Baker<\/strong> had a shared poster presentation as well, titled “Agentless Presuppositions of again: Meet Obligatory Control”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

A couple other graduate students (Aidan Sharma, Catherine Huang), faculty members (Shannon Bryant) and alumni (Yagmur Sag) also attended NELS, and are included in the group photo above!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
