SUMMARY:Best Practices in Overdose Prevention: Leveraging Strategic Partners
DESCRIPTION:CAI Global is hosting a 1-day\, in-person conference to discuss the past\, present\, and future of harm reduction and overdose prevention in NJ.\nLocation:\nThe National Conference Center at the Holiday Inn of East Windsor\n399 Monmouth St.\nEast Windsor\, NJ 08520 \nThe overdose epidemic is the highest it has ever been in our communities. Both research and practice demonstrate that well-coordinated\, cross-systems work provides the best outcomes for people who have experienced trauma\, use substances\, and often struggle to engage and retain in care. Creating a trauma informed eco-system requires a community of care that empowers and collaborates with clients and provides options so they can make informed choices without the risk of stigma. Success requires innovative thinking and strategic partnerships that leverage resources\, promote cross-collaboration and use trauma informed approaches to best meet this challenge. \nThe TI OD2A Project strives to build the trauma lens in agencies that work in public health and public safety across the state to foster a trauma-informed ecosystem that allows for compassionate and non-judgmental service delivery approaches. Persons in the field of substance use disorder\, addiction medicine\, HIV prevention and treatment\, including but not limited to front line staff and providers\, community health workers\, overdose fatality review team members\, EMS personnel. \nSpeakers include:\nJessica Atkinson\, Grant Coordinator\, Overdose Fatality Review Teams\nMichele Calvo\, MPH\, Director of Opioid Response and Policy\, NJ Department of Health\nKimberly L. Reilly\, MA\, LPC\, Chief of Administrative Services\, Department of Substance Abuse\, Addiction\, and Opioid Dependency\, Ocean County Health Department\nTim Seplaki\, CPM\, Chief of EMS Data and Technology for the NJ Department of Health\, Office of Emergency Medical Services (EMS)\nDesiree Whyte\, MA\, CPM Assistant Director of Operations Monmouth County Department of Human Services
