Annual opioid overdose deaths have skyrocketed to over 100,000 people in the United States, much of which are due to the rapid growth of highly potent synthetic opioids such as fentanyl in the drug supply. More than ever, strategies to curb these deaths are crucial to overcoming the opioid crisis. Naloxone, an opioid antidote, is a vital harm reduction tool that has significant barriers to access due to cost and stigma. The New Jersey Dept. of Human Services\u2019 Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services implemented the NJ \u201cNaloxone 365\u201d program to remove barriers to this lifesaving medication by making it more accessible to individuals requesting naloxone in community pharmacies.
