  • Our Foundation track is designed for students excited to explore a new skill for the first time. These courses are half-day offerings but can be combined into a full-day experience.

PORTFOLIO CLASSES

Week 1 | July 7-11, 2025


3D Design | Portfolio
 (Grades 9-12)
July 7 – July 11 | 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Camp Fee: $600

This full-day, intensive course is designed to help students build a strong portfolio for art program applications by exploring the integration of traditional and digital art forms. Students will learn foundational skills in computer-assisted design, focusing on Rhino 3D – a powerful tool for digital drafting, modeling, and rendering. The course will guide students through a series of hands-on tutorials, demonstrations, and exercises that encourage creative exploration, bridging analog techniques with digital tools. By the end of the course, students will produce a 3D-printed prototype that demonstrates their ability to conceptualize and create with both traditional and digital mediums.


Week 2 | July 14-18, 2025


Drawing | Portfolio
 (Grades 9-12)
July 14 – July 18 | 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Camp Fee: $600

This full-day, intensive course is designed for high school students with prior experience in drawing, who are looking to enhance their portfolio. The course focuses on advanced drawing techniques, with an emphasis on building confidence and technical ability. Participants will receive helpful feedback from a professional working artist and engage in discussions on contemporary art and art history to deepen their understanding of the creative process. Students will refine their technical skills while also experimenting with personal style and creative expression. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio piece that showcases both technical mastery and a unique artistic voice.

 

Zine-Making, Print Design | Portfolio (Grades 9-12)
July 14 – July 18 | 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Camp Fee: $600

This full-day, intensive course is designed for students looking to push the boundaries of zine-making, enhancing their creative and technical skills and building their portfolios. Building on an understanding of zine culture, students will take a deeper dive into the development, design, and production of high-quality, self-published works. The course integrates both analog and advanced digital techniques, offering hands-on tutorials in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Students will refine their design concepts, storytelling, and layout strategies to create a sophisticated, polished zine that showcases their artistic vision and technical expertise—an ideal addition to any portfolio.


Week 3 | July 21-25, 2025

 

Mobile App Design | Portfolio (Grades 9-12)
July 21 – July 25 | 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Camp Fee: $600

This full-day, intensive course introduces designing and prototyping in Figma, a key tool for creating mobile applications. It begins with an overview of User Experience and User Interface design before diving into the mobile app design process with tutorials, demonstrations, and creative exercises. Each day, we’ll analyze an existing mobile app and create a related function. By the end of the course, each student will have a prototype of their own mobile application.

 

Painting | Portfolio (Grades 9-12)
July 21 – July 25 | 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This full-day, intensive course is designed for high school students with prior experience in painting who are looking to enhance their portfolio. The course focuses on advanced painting techniques, with an emphasis on observational painting, color theory, and composition. Students will explore a range of mediums, including acrylics and oils, to refine their technical skills while also experimenting with personal style and creative expression. Throughout the course, participants will receive personalized feedback from a professional artist, helping to elevate their work. Students will also engage in discussions on contemporary painting practices and art history to contextualize their work within the broader artistic landscape. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio piece that showcases both technical mastery and a unique artistic voice.

 

Digital Photography | Portfolio (Grades 9-12)

This full-day, intensive course is designed for high school students who want to refine their digital photography skills. Students will explore photography methods while also having opportunities to experiment with their personal artistic style. This half-day, hands-on art course is designed for middle and high school students who want to develop their drawing skills. The course focuses on foundational techniques in observational and realistic drawing, with an emphasis on building confidence and technical ability. Students will explore basic drawing and shading methods while also having opportunities to experiment with their personal artistic style. Participants will receive helpful feedback from a professional working artist and engage in discussions on contemporary art and art history to deepen their understanding of the creative process.

Learn how to make your own zines! Throughout this half-day course, students will learn about the history of zine-making and zine cultures. Students will work in both analog and digital formats to develop, produce, and disseminate their publications, learning the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign through hands-on tutorials. If you are new to zines, a zine is a self-published work featuring original images, artwork and/or texts, through which artists can express their thoughts and artistic vision.
