Rutgers Summer <\/b>Concert Band Institute<\/strong><\/h5>\n
July 12 \u2013 July 17 | 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM<\/h6>\n
Commuter: $850*<\/span> | open to rising 7th-12th graders and college first-years<\/h6>\n

Residential: $1350*<\/span> | open to rising 9th-12th graders and college first-years<\/p>\n

*<\/strong>Residential tuition includes the cost of living in the Rutgers dorms and three meals a day. Commuter tuition includes daily lunch.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Woodwind, brass, and percussionists (rising 7th to rising 12th grade students) are challenged to elev<\/span>ate their artistry and technique during a week of concert band and chamber music training with top-notch faculty. Large ensemble rehearsals are led by Dr. Todd Nic<\/strong><\/span>hols<\/strong>, Director of University Bands; and Dr. Julia Baumanis<\/strong>, Associate Director of Bands, at Rutgers. Group lessons, clinics, electives, master classes and performances by renowned artists round out the schedule. Residential options are available for rising 9th to rising 12th graders. Note: There is no formal audition for the Concert Band Institute. However, campers should have at least two years\u2019 experience playing an instrument. On the first day of camp, each student will be asked to play a short excerpt of their choosing (solo, etude, band music, etc.) so that they can be placed in the group most appropriate for their level of musicianship.<\/span><\/p>\n

Concert Band Instruments include: <\/strong>Piccolo, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Eb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion.<\/p>\n

Commuter and residential options: <\/strong>Both commuter and residential options are available for rising 9th \u2013 rising 12th graders. \u00a0Rising 7th and rising 8th graders are welcome to participate as commuters.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: There is no formal audition for Symphonic Band. However, campers should have at least two years\u2019 experience playing an instrument.
