Who is eligible to participate in Music Department choral ensembles?
ALL CHORAL ENSEMBLES ARE OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS AT RUTGERS UNIVERSITY
When do choral auditions take place?
Auditions for the Fall semester 2021 will take place before the first week of classes in both the Kirkpatrick Chapel and Shindell Choral Rehearsal Hall on Douglass Campus (see below for locations for each day).

You do not need to sign up for a time – just come to one of the audition times posted on the page Audition Schedule.
Teaching assistants and choir officers will be available to assist you with scheduling conflicts.
What happens in my audition?
Students auditioning are being considered for the choral program as a whole. Students will be placed in a choir based off their performance in the audition. The audition itself usually takes about 6 or 7 minutes. Students are not required to bring prepared material to the choral auditions. You will be asked to sing a few easy exercises to help the directors determine your voice part. A brief pitch-matching exercise will be given to you and you will be asked to sing “Happy Birthday.” Directors of all four vocal ensembles at Mason Gross attend the auditions, so you only need to sing once.
