{"id":653,"date":"2021-10-20T16:55:42","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T16:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/mgsa-music-faculty\/?page_id=653"},"modified":"2026-02-06T15:50:55","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T15:50:55","slug":"studio-accompaniment-requests-and-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/mgsa-music-faculty\/studio-accompaniment-requests-and-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Studio Accompaniment Requests and Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Accompanying services information, procedures and guidelines<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Karina Bruk, Coordinator of Accompanying Services:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:bruk@mgsa.rutgers.edu\">bruk@mgsa.rutgers.edu<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Spring 2026 submission deadline: Monday, February 2, 4pm<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/airtable.com\/appHNBKMZkt4Az0Ir\/pagqBTzR2Ql4pHrni\/form\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACCOMPANIST REQUEST FORM<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Spring 2026 Accompanying services starting date: Tuesday, February 17\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There are three (3) types of accompanying services:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staff Accompanists<\/strong>: pianists hired by the department<br \/>\n<strong>DA Accompanists<\/strong>: graduate pianists receiving working awards<br \/>\n<strong>Studio Accompanying for Credit Accompanists<\/strong>: graduate and undergraduate pianists taking Studio Accompanying (07:701:451 or 08:703:505) as a required course for their respective degrees (the instrumentalist or vocalist\u2019s teacher will grade the accompanists work)<\/p>\n<p><em>Please refer to the specific procedures listed below. For any questions, please contact the <\/em><em>Coordinator of Accompanying Services, Karina Bruk, at <a href=\"mailto:bruk@mgsa.rutgers.edu\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">bruk@mgsa.rutgers.edu<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Faculty:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accompanying requests should be submitted <u>only by the primary lesson instructors<\/u> (not students). Requests for a particular accompanist will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.<\/li>\n<li>Instructors are asked to submit accompanying requests for their studios by the deadline emailed by Dr. Bruk.<\/li>\n<li>Upon completion of the assignments, two (2) rosters will be sent out to students and faculty: one by professors&#8217; name and one by the accompanist&#8217;s name. Each roster will contain the email addresses of the pianists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Students are responsible for contacting their assigned pianists immediately and providing scores by the deadlines outlined in the<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/mgsa-music-faculty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/623\/2025\/08\/Guidelines-for-Accompaniment-Assignments.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Guidelines for Accompaniment Assignments<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/mgsa-music-faculty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/623\/2026\/02\/Staff-Accompanying-Alternating-weeks-Spring-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Staff Accompanying Alternating weeks Spring 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Standard Route<\/strong>: Alternating weeks based on a permanently set schedule of each student for the semester. A faculty member should request pianists by filling out an Accompanist Request form by the deadline. A pianist will be assigned by the Accompanying Coordinator to each student who has a regularly scheduled day\/time of lesson for the semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alternate Route:\u00a0<\/strong>Independent hiring. For all whose lessons may shift in day\/time. Staff accompanists (from the roster below) may be independently contacted by an instructor to accompany their students. A log must be filled out and signed by <u>all parties<\/u>\u00a0(student, instructor, and pianist) and submitted to the Coordinator (Karina Bruk) by the end of the semester.<\/p>\n<p><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Recital and\/or Additional Rehearsal Fees: <\/b>Whether a pianist is scheduled via Standard or Alternate Route, recitals and\/or any additional rehearsal hours\u00a0<u>are not covered by the department<\/u>.\u00a0 Payments for services rendered are provided directly by the student to the pianist. A &#8220;Recital\/Extra Rehearsal&#8221; log must be filled out by the <i>student<\/i>\u00a0and signed by\u00a0<u>all parties<\/u>\u00a0(student, instructor, and pianist) and submitted to the Coordinator (Karina Bruk) by the end of the semester.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary\"
