Performances of Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis, a parable composed in the Terezín concentration camp in 1943 that tells the story of a paranoid totalitarian emperor who wages war with such a passion that even Death decides to take a stand against him, and Nico Muhly’s Dark Sisters, which follows one woman’s dangerous attempt to escape her life as a member of the FLDS Church (Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints).
