The Rutgers University String Ensemble performs a diverse program of works for string orchestra. This undergraduate ensemble, coached by Jonathan Spitz, performs without a conductor.
Sound on Canvas An exploration of iconic historical paintings accompanied by wind music from the corresponding epochs. Paintings by Beuckelaer, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Fragonard, Monet, Van Gogh, and Kandinsky. Composers include Susato, Mozart, Grieg, Hindemith, among others, with a special feature arrangement of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
Rutgers Chamber Jazz Ensembles, directed by esteemed jazz faculty members, will feature students in small-group settings performing works from renowned artists, including Horace Silver, Miles Davis, and Oliver Nelson.
