Samantha Estrada, an undergrad from Fairleigh Dickinson University, was a RIOS intern in the Munroe lab in 2019. Samantha studied how horseshoe crabs move through intertidal oyster farms to determine if there were any impacts on their ability to reach spawning beaches. Although the direction of crab movement shifted slightly as they encountered the legs of aquaculture racks, neither oyster aquaculture gear nor tidal conditions affected crab velocity nor distance travelled.
