Joseph Nichols, a RIOS intern in 2021 from Virginia Tech, worked with Drs. Jason Morson and Daphne Munroe to determine how a modification to an Atlantic sea scallop dredge impacted bycatch and catch. He found that the modified dredge reduced bycatch when the cutting bar was set at certain angles, yet the size frequency of the catch was unchanged.
